Before quilt patterns were commonly published, women created patterns on their own or borrowed them from friends and neighbors. Patterns that were shared were often named and the names passed down through generations.

This quilted mug rug star pattern is often named “North Star” in honor of the dark over light star points. Safety, health, and love are embedded into this elegant style block.
