Handknit Adult All-in-one Head, Ear & Neck Warmer Helmet Hat
Warm Handknit Helmet Hat with Chest and Back Protector
This hand knit pattern came from a very old and very treasured World War II knitting pattern book which was sold for ten cents to American Women on the home-front. All patterns in this book were pre-approved through the US Army and Navy — as wearing apparel for our GIs.
The book’s title is, “Practical, warm hand knits for Service Men.” Women were asked to make these to send in shipments overseas, or for their own soldier/sailor.
This pattern is called “Helmet No. 203 (With Chest and Back Protector).” It is designed for our service members to wear under their helmets or anytime when they needed to be protected from the cold.
It is an all-in-one head and neck warmer, ear warmer and chest/back protector. I have adapted the pattern for more modern, softer, non-military yarns, It is perfect for cold weather, as it so efficiently keeps the wearer warm without bulk!
The face opening extends to just above the chin and below the eyebrows.
You can be the proud owner of an “official” government approved Helmet Hat. Please wear it whenever the cold wind blows or present it as a perfect gift for anyone, male or female, who must brave the cold.
Customizable by color, just contact us prior to ordering. The yarn is worsted weight, washable, acrylic yarn.
To wash: Turn inside out; wash in cold water, gentle or hand wash cycle. Dry flat.
