Handcrafted Segmented Marblewood Wooden Bowl
This bowl was hand crafted and turned on my wood lathe. I purchase the Marblewood from South America at a cost for the board of $140.00. All putting all the segments together all that was left of the Marblewood was a one inch strip one inches by six inches. The bowl is very heavy because the wood is so dense.
Marblewood tree is known for the highly distinctive stripes, ranging in color from dark brown, to even purple or black. While the sapwood is usually bears the same distinctively pale yellow color as the heartwood, only the heartwood features the trademark striping, which makes the wood so appealing to turners. The wood is a very hard wood and heavy. It is harvested from South America.
Remember there is only one of this bowl making it a unique. No two pieces are the same. Each will have different grain patterns and colors.
