Handcrafted Potpourri Australian Red Ironbark & Spotted Gum Segmented Bowl with Antique Pewter Humming Bird Filigree Lid
This is a “Segmented” Potpourri Dish took a week to glue up. There 68 pieces of Ash, Curly Maple, & Walnut glued together and was a fun project to turn on my lathe.
This Potpourri Dish is to be seen and to be appreciated. Remember there is only one of these designs making it unique. No two pieces are the same. Each will have different grain patterns and colors.
Australian Red Ironbark is a distinctive Australian hardwood that grows from Victoria through the western slopes of NSW into southern Queesland. Its rough bark is hard and deeply furrowed, and ranges from a dark red hue. Red ironbark timber ranges from deep dark red to red-brown.
Australian Spotted Gum is a hardwood native to the east coast of Australia, increasingly popular for its strength, sophisticated color from browns to creams, fire resistant properties, and exquisite cathedral grain which is at times interspersed with mysterious “fiddle-back” grain giving it a satin-y appearance..
