Handcrafted Classic Sculptured Cocobolo Wooden Pen with Velvet Case
The pen and letter opener were hand turned on my lathe.
Cocobolo is an exotic wood native to Mexico, Panama, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua, and is favored for custom pool cues, fine furniture and cabinetry, inlays, and musical instruments. The wood is very durable and strong, with a fine texture. It is extremely beautiful, ranging in color from dark red to reddish brown, with an irregular grain pattern. Cocobolo has fantastic working characteristics, making it a favorite for turning and carving, and finishes very smoothly.
The pen has a twist mechanism to extend and retract the writing tip. The mechanism is activate by turning the top barrel. You will note that the twist mechanism operates smoothly. The pen comes with a standard Parker-type ink in black.
This is a pen to be seen and to be appreciated. I can’t imagine the purchaser of this pen not being proud to own this pen and also show this pen to co-workers and family. Writing with this pen is extremely smooth and the barrels are a marvel to be appreciated.
Remember there is only one of this pen and there will only be one of this pen making it a unique pen. No two pieces are the same. Each will have different grain patterns and colors. If you enjoy pens that are unique, this is a pen for you.
The pen is finished with multiple coats of a CA finish, which gives it a durable gloss coat that will resist oils and signs of wear.
