Amboyna Wood Burl and Rose & Gold Risen Candle Holder
Amboyna Wood Burl came from a root that was burned in a California fire. I filled the wood with resin and turned it to this shape.
One of the most splendid burls, Amboyna Burl is an exotic wood that is one of about 60 in the Pterocarpus genus, which is reported to consist of small to large trees distributed throughout the tropics. Pterocarpus indicus is reported to be indigenous to Malaysia, but is also found in the Philippines, Borneo, Burma, New Guinea, and the Malay Archipelago. The bending strength of air-dried wood of the species is similar to that of Teak, which is considered to be strong. Strength in compression parallel to grain is in the high range.
This Candle Stick Holder is to be seen and to be appreciated. Remember there is only one of these designs making it unique. No two pieces are the same. Each will have different grain patterns and colors.
The Candle Stick Holder is finished with multiple coats of a CA finish, which gives it a durable gloss coat that will resist oils and signs of wear.
3 1/4″ diameter base by 6 inches long.
